The night sky is turbulent. The stars, with their warm colors, are pushed back by the Sun, its baroque style accentuated by the gold pigments used in its painting, highlighting the star's power and majesty.

In contrast, the Moon completes the pictorial symbolism of the painting, where day and night, reality and dream, complement each other in perfect unity.

The landscape is barely sketched. It emerges from the haze of dreams.

While the poem evokes the Owl, the animal of the goddess Athena, the shrew symbolizes the fragility of human life.

And indeed, it is an owl, another nocturnal and magical animal, that has perched on the crescent moon. It observes the reader of the poem, whose every unfortunate gesture could be detrimental to it:
Diane is inaccessible to humankind. She is of divine essence and protection.
