This work contrasts urban life with the solitude of people whose relationship has just ended.

The fragility of the abandoned woman is reflected in the naked and frail body of Diana.

The conflict doesn't simply juxtapose the goddess's isolation with urban activities; it also contrasts the light of the night sky, the moon, and the stars with streetlights. Streetlights that distance people from the happiness and serenity of the starry sky.

The goddess is huddled in an isolated room, alone in her home.
She looks at the reader of the poem questioningly, prompting them to feel guilty, because they alone are responsible for her torment.

Galatea stirs above the last line of the poem.

She insists that this story will never end.

A brief moment in the reading of a poem that freezes time and renders it eternal.
